"Quality wine tourism"
Viavinum and Ana are fantastic! Months before I left for Spain on a fun fueled trip with 12 girlfriends, I contacted Ana to help script some tours. I actually solicited three different companies and from the beginning Ana was the easiest to work with and came up with the most unique itineraries. In the end, we used her company for all of our ground transportation in Spain, a tour of Barcelona and another tour that included a full day outing to the Picasso museum, a Cava vineyard and outlet shopping at La Roca. First of all the tour guide that we had for the Barcelona tour was outstanding. This guide made the tour of the Sagrada Familia magical! She knew every intricate detail that will make me want to return in 2026 when it is complete. The tour to the Cave vineyard completely exceeded our expectations. We went to a small family owned vineyard that had splendid cavas. The visit included a tour of the winery, tasting and wonderful 4 course lunch. The highlight was meeting the very spry 85 year old owner/founder. The trip was topped off with a visit to La Roca outlet where Ana secured us 10% VIP coupons. Everything she arranged for us was executed in a professional manner. I have already recommended Ana to friends who plan to visit Spain the near future and will use her again when I return to Spain.
"The only way to experience great vineyards in Spain!"

Understanding the D.O.P. Valencia Wine Classifications
To truly appreciate wine tasting in Valencia Spain, it’s essential to understand the D.O.P. (Denominación de Origen Protegida) Valencia system. This protected designation is divided into four main subzones: Alto Turia, Valentino, Clariano, and Moscatel de Valencia. Each subzone is geographically and climatically distinct, which directly influences the style and quality of wines produced.
Alto Turia is located in the highlands near the provinces of Teruel and Cuenca, where vineyards sit between 700 and 1,100 meters above sea level. The altitude brings freshness and crisp acidity to white wines made with Merseguera and Macabeo.
Valentino lies closer to the city of Valencia and enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate, perfect for balanced reds and aromatic whites.
Clariano, in the south, offers a variety of soils and a warmer climate, ideal for both traditional and innovative winemaking.
Moscatel de Valencia specializes in the Muscat of Alexandria grape, used to produce sweet, floral wines that are a hallmark of the region.
Knowing the D.O.P. zones will not only enhance your experience but also help you choose wines that suit your taste during your wine tasting in Valencia Spain adventure.
Best Food Pairings with Valencian Wines
No wine tasting is complete without food—and Valencia’s local cuisine is as expressive as its wines. The Mediterranean diet and agricultural heritage of the region provide a wealth of pairing opportunities:
Bobal, with its depth and structure, pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, embutidos (cured sausages), and slow-cooked dishes like olla valenciana.
Moscatel wines are ideal with desserts like arnadí (a sweet pumpkin and almond dish), citrus tarts, or even blue cheese, where the sweetness balances the saltiness.
Merseguera whites, with their mineral finish, go perfectly with seafood paella, grilled prawns, or clóchinas (Valencian mussels).
Monastrell, with its bold character, is a great match for hearty rice dishes like arroz al horno or roasted pork with rosemary.
Tasting local wines alongside regional specialties enhances both elements and gives visitors a true sense of place. For a full cultural experience during wine tasting in Valencia Spain, don’t skip the food.
Pairing Spanish Wines with Local Gastronomy
Spanish cuisine offers a plethora of flavors that perfectly complement the country’s diverse wines. Pair the robust reds of Toro with hearty stews, or enjoy the delicate Albariños of Rías Baixas alongside fresh seafood dishes. Explore the art of pairing through curated experiences that highlight the synergy between local dishes and regional wines, enhancing your appreciation of both.
Urban Wineries and Wine Bars in Valencia City
You don’t need to venture far from the city to enjoy exceptional wine experiences. Valencia is home to several urban wineries, tasting rooms, and wine-focused bars where you can explore regional and national wines without leaving the city center.

These spots are perfect for casual tastings, learning from sommeliers, and even buying a bottle to take home. They offer a different side of wine tasting in Valencia Spain, especially for travelers short on time.
Discovering Sparkling Wines from Valencia
While Cava is traditionally associated with Catalonia, the Requena region of Valencia is an official Cava-producing area, offering outstanding quality sparkling wines using the traditional method.
Valencian Cavas are made with grapes like Macabeo, Xarel·lo, Parellada, and increasingly Chardonnay and Bobal. The region’s warm days and cool nights allow for slow, balanced ripening, resulting in elegant bubbles with good acidity and complexity.
Cava producers such as Dominio de la Vega, Pago de Tharsys, and Tantum Ergo have won international awards, and many offer tasting experiences directly at their vineyards. Sparkling wine lovers will find that wine tasting in Valencia Spain includes more than just still reds and whites—it’s also a great place to explore quality bubbles at excellent value.
Wine Souvenirs: Bringing Spain Home
Extend your wine journey beyond the vineyard by bringing home a taste of Spain. Many wineries offer exclusive bottles not available elsewhere, allowing you to savor your experiences long after your visit. Additionally, consider purchasing local delicacies such as olive oil, cheeses, or handcrafted wine accessories, serving as perfect mementos or gifts for fellow wine enthusiasts.
