Vineyard Tour from Lisbon

Planning a vineyard tour from Lisbon? Few capitals sit this close to wine country: the moscatel cellars of Setúbal and Azeitão, the historic whites of Bucelas and the sand-grown vines of Colares all lie within an hour of the city. Viavinum designs private wine journeys from Lisbon and one flagship escorted trip: Lisbon and Alentejo, a seven-day luxury food and wine tour.

Lisbon is a rare thing in Europe: a capital with three historic wine denominations on its doorstep. Forty minutes north lies Bucelas, prized since the nineteenth century for its crisp Arinto whites; across the Tagus, the moscatel cellars of Azeitão wait at the foot of the Arrábida hills; and past Sintra, the ungrafted vines of Colares grow in pure Atlantic sand.

A vineyard tour from Lisbon, the Viavinum way

We are a wine tourism agency, not a ticket seller. Every vineyard tour from Lisbon we organise is built on private visits, unhurried tastings and the people who make the wine — for a single day among Portugal’s wine regions or a week-long route into the Alentejo.

Vineyard Regions Around Lisbon

Four very different wine landscapes surround the Portuguese capital, each with its own grapes, soils and table. These are the areas we work with when we plan a vineyard tour from Lisbon, and each one can be reached comfortably from the city.

Viavinum does not sell off-the-shelf excursions. If our scheduled departures don’t fit your dates, we design a custom wine trip from Lisbon for your party alone — your pace, your regions, your table.

What You'll Experience on a Vineyard Tour from Lisbon

Wine is the thread, but never the whole story. Depending on the season and the regions you choose, your itinerary can include:

Experiences we weave into every journey

  • Private winery visits to family estates around Setúbal, Bucelas and the Alentejo
  • Cellar tastings of moscatel, Arinto and Alentejo reds, guided by the people who make them
  • Wine-pairing lunches built on regional Portuguese cooking
  • Azeitão cheese and olive-oil tastings at their source
  • Évora’s Roman and medieval heritage, a UNESCO World Heritage city
  • Boutique stays in wine estates and historic houses

Yes. All Viavinum itineraries include private transport with a driver from central Lisbon, so nobody in your group has to sit out the tastings. Most of the wineries we visit lie within an hour and a quarter of the city.

The four classic choices are Setúbal and Azeitão for moscatel, Bucelas for Arinto whites, Colares for its sand-grown reds near Sintra, and the Alentejo around Évora — the natural option when you have a full day or, ideally, several.

No. We are not a marketplace of day trips. Short formats are organised as private journeys designed for your group alone, and our scheduled programme is the seven-day Lisbon and Alentejo luxury food and wine tour. Tell us your dates and we will propose the right format.

The Lisbon area rewards visitors all year thanks to its mild Atlantic climate. Spring and early autumn are ideal, and September brings the harvest, when the cellars are at their liveliest. Our 2026 escorted departures run from late September to mid-November.

Lisbon and Alentejo: A Luxury Food and Wine Tour

Our flagship journey in Portugal begins and ends in Lisbon and devotes seven days to the wines, tables and landscapes of the Alentejo, travelling in a small group with expert guides and staying at carefully chosen estates. Four 2027 departures are open: 19 – 25 April, 10 – 16 May, 21 – 27 June and 12 – 18 July. You will find it alongside our other group tours in Portugal.

A Private Vineyard Tour from Lisbon, Built Around You

Prefer to travel with your own party? We design private trips in Portugal that combine any of the regions above — a gentle day among the moscatel cellars of Azeitão, or a full week that runs from the Tagus to the Alentejo plain.

Arrive in Lisbon the Long Way

For travellers with time, Wonders of Northern Spain and Portugal is a fifteen-day route that ends among the palaces of Sintra, Cascais and Lisbon, departing 9 – 23 May and 11 – 25 July 2027.
